P-38H - 5 - LO S/N 42 - 66947
After mailing the model and serial number for the P-38 pictured above to the Air Force Historical Research Agency - Maxwell AFB, I found this aircraft was assigned to the 329th Fighter Group - 330th Fighter Squadron which used P-38s to train replacement pilots and provided cadres for fighter groups. The Aircraft Records Card stated the aircraft was received 07-20-43 / Burbank, California and the cost of the aircraft was ($98,990.00). This P-38 was used for training and was later scrapped.
